Representation of NCAA Division 1 Athletes on Instagram

Hello, I am Jasper Lorenz, an AP Research student at Rock Canyon High School. This year I will be conducting my research analyzing the representation of male and female division 1 NCAA athletes on the power five conferences' Instagram accounts. The NCAA power five conferences include the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Atlantic Coast Conference  (ACC),  BIG TEN Conference, BIG12 Conference, and PAC-12 Conference. The power five conferences were selected to represent all the NCAA division 1 conferences because the power five conferences earn the highest amount of revenue and generate the highest number of viewers. My methodology includes a content analysis for each post generated during random sampling and a quantitative analysis method to collect the number of likes and comments on each post. After data collection, I will compare the data among the conferences' Instagram accounts to determine if there is inequality in the representation of male and female college athletes.
